Course Content | This Butter Cream Cake Decoration course will help you learn and practice a wide variety of shapes and patterns which can be made with butter cream. For samples of different designs that can be made with butter cream check out the pictures on this page.

Day 1 of the course is focused on helping students develop and strengthen the fundamental skills required to make great butter cream decorations. On Day 2, all students design and decorate their own cakes with supervision by the instructor. Day 2 also covers a set of more advanced shapes which build upon the fundamentals from Day 1.

What are the recipes included in the curriculum? What is the course structure?

Day 1 | A large part of Day 1 is dedicated to practicing the right ‘pressure’ method which is used to create butter cream based cake decorations. The first half of the day is spent practicing without nozzles while nozzles are introduced during the second half. The shapes, patterns and techniques taught and practiced on Day 1 include:

  1. Lines
  2. Dots
  3. Waves
  4. Patterns
  5. Corneli
  6. Lattice
  7. Borders
  8. Lace pattern
  9. Grass Nozzle
  10. Name writing
  11. Basket weave – top and sides
  12. Leaves
  13. Frills
  14. Star nozzle piping – star drops, swirls, rosettes, borders, shells, patterns etc.
  15. Rosette swirl
  16. Cupcake swirl

Day 2 | On Day 2 of the course, every student is asked to design and decorate a cake independently using techniques learnt on Day 1. More complex shapes and designs are also taught as the day progresses. The instructor closely guides each student and helps them finish their own designs. The new shapes and patters taught on Day 2 are:

  1. Drop strings
  2. Flowers
  3. Blossoms
  4. Daisy
  5. Pansy
  6. Dogwood
  7. Rose
  8. Carnations
  9. Chrysanthemum
  10. Fantasy flowers
  11. Decoration of a cake with popular cartoon characters like Winnie the Pooh, Batman, etc.

Allowing every student pick a theme of her choice gives all students a chance to witness the creation of ten different types of cake decorations simultaneously.

Pre-requisites: None. You are are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience for this course.

How should I pay the fees? What is the cancellation policy?

Advance payment of 15% of course fee is compulsory to register for this course.

Advance payments can be made in cash or online through the following methods
(1) Online Net Banking Transfer (NEFT)
(2) Cash/Cheque deposit made at any Axis Bank Branch

To make advance payments select “Advance Payment” during the checkout process. We will drop you a mail/message with relevant bank details. Registrations where payment has not been received within 2-3 working days after the date of registration will be cancelled.

Cancellation Policy for Advance Payments
(1) Full refund is made in case the class is cancelled by the instructor/studio
(2) The 15% booking fee is  not refundable in case of cancellations made by the students after payment. This is necessary as these cancellations result in material and monetary loss for the studio. In cases where students are not able to attend due to natural factors like heavy rains or flooding, we consider full refunds on a case-by-case basis.

    Malaika knows her stuff very well and is very sweet. One suggestion is to change the sitting stools. They are very uncomfortable. You should keep tall chairs with backrest. Another thing, do not take more than 8 students as its very difficult to work. Thanks.
